Introduction to Forest Bathing

If you’re curious about Forest Bathing and wondering where to begin, this experience is a gentle introduction to the practice — but you don’t need to know anything about Forest Bathing before you arrive.

Over approximately 2.5 hours, we’ll move slowly through the natural environment, stopping regularly to explore different ways of connecting with the landscape around us.

Rather than following a fixed set of activities, each experience is shaped by the location, season, weather and people taking part. This means no two sessions need to be exactly the same.

You might be invited to slow your walking and notice what is beneath your feet, explore the landscape through each of your senses, spend time with a particular tree or natural feature, pause for breathing or grounding, notice the sky and changing light, create something using natural materials, experience moments of stillness or simply find somewhere to stop and observe what you might normally walk straight past.

The aim isn’t to complete as many activities as possible. There is nowhere we need to get to.

Instead, we’ll give ourselves permission to move slowly, be curious and experience the natural environment in ways that can easily get lost when we’re walking with a destination, conversation, phone or to-do list competing for our attention.

You don’t need to be particularly knowledgeable about nature, good at mindfulness, comfortable meditating or an experienced walker. There is also no ‘right’ response to an invitation. You might find one activity deeply relaxing and another simply interesting — part of the experience is discovering what helps you connect.

Although designed as an introduction, this isn’t necessarily a one-time experience. The landscape, seasons, weather and activities change, and you may notice something completely different each time you return.

What Might We Explore?

Your session will be different depending on where and when we meet, but experiences may draw on:

– Sensory exploration using sight, sound, touch and scent
– Slow and mindful walking
– Grounding and breathing practices
– Tree and plant observation
– Stillness and quiet reflection
– Sky and cloud gazing
– Nature journalling or Forest Art
– Exploring natural textures, colours and patterns
– Optional barefoot grounding where appropriate
– Simple creative and reflective invitations
– Time to simply stop, notice and be

Activities are always invitations. You remain in control of how you participate, and there is no expectation to share personal reflections with the group.

Accessibility & Practical Information

Forest Bathing is slow-paced, but sessions take place outdoors in natural environments and may involve walking approximately 1–2 miles over uneven or changing terrain.

Participants should be comfortable spending the duration of the session outdoors and able to manage the terrain described for the particular location.

Participants are responsible for arranging their own transport to and from the meeting location. Transport is not included in the cost of the experience, so please ensure you are able to travel to the stated location before booking.

If you have an injury, disability, health condition, mobility requirement or any other need that may affect your participation, please contact me before booking. I am happy to discuss your needs and consider reasonable adaptations so that, wherever possible, you can participate safely and comfortably.

Please let me know about any relevant health or accessibility needs before the session, particularly where these may be affected by walking, terrain, weather or spending an extended period outdoors.
